Barcelona moved three points clear at the top of LaLiga after thrashing Osasuna 3-0 on Thursday.
The win at the Spotify Camp Nou extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 19 games and demonstrated just how well they are doing in their charge for the league title.
Torres Opened the Score
The Catalan giants wasted no time in asserting their authority on the match. Right in the 11th minute, forward Ferran Torres leveled first with a top-class finish, first touch, from inside the six-yard box.
It was a goal made in teamwork; young full-back Alejandro Balde supplied a pinpoint cross for Torres to convert.
“From now on, every game is a final, and today was no different. We settled it quickly and well, and that’s what matters. Three points and on to the next,” Torres said after the match.
Olmo Doubles the Lead from the Spot
Just ten minutes later, Barcelona doubled their lead when Dani Olmo scored. The attacking midfielder made a clever run to meet a long ball by Pedri but flopped down in the box before rounding Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.
The referee pointed to the penalty spot right away.
Olmo stepped up to take it, but Herrera managed to save his first attempt, albeit the woodwork was rattled because the referees called for a retake due to an Osasuna player encroaching before the kick was taken.
Olmo went for placement this time, putting it low into the bottom right corner to take it to 2-0.
Sadly for Barcelona, Olmo had to be substituted later in the match due to what appeared to be a muscle injury. His spot was taken by another academy graduate, Fermín López, who filled in seamlessly in midfield.
Lewandowski Seals the Win
Barcelona, even missing some key regulars because of injuries and fitness issues arising from international duty with national reps, were still in control.
Teen sensation Lamine Yamal made good use of all resources available to him in tormenting Osasuna’s defence, just as Ferran Torres hit a free kick against the crossbar in the 38th minute.
On the attack, the home side held no mercy as they piled chances one upon the other. In the 77th minute, Robert Lewandowski, who had taken the place of Olmo in the 71st minute, rose above the defenders for a header after meeting a lovely cross by Fermín López that condemned Osasuna to a 3-0 defeat.
Barcelona’s Title Aspirations Strengthened.
With this victory, Barcelona trails in the LaLiga standings by 63 points from 28 matches. Reigning champions Real Madrid are close behind, holding 60 points.
Atletico Madrid is further away in third place with 56 points. With only ten matches remaining in the season, we now know that each game will prove to be some way critical towards the title.
Barcelona is the only team in Europe’s major five divisions that has not experienced a loss in 2025, having been unbeaten since late December.
They truly displayed their depth against Osasuna, who were also without Raphinha and Lewandowski at the beginning of the game, and Flick’s consistency under Hansi has been praised.
Osasuna’s Continued Lamentation
On the other end, Osasuna had a miserable night when they were not able to register a single attack. The team’s non-existent offensive never gave the Barca goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, a single possibility to intervene.
The defeat keeps them firmly locked at 14th place in a continuing struggle to secure their safety from relegation.
For Barça, the delay to the fixture brings on cheers of joy
Originally scheduled for the 8th of March, this fixture was postponed due to the unfortunate passing of Barcelona club doctor Carles Minarro Garcia, an event the team commemorated with a professional and dominant display worthy of their season’s ambitions.
