New Zealand World Cup squad announced:
This year’s T20 World Cup will be held on October 16 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. New Zealand Cricket (ZC) has announced, a 16-member squad for the ICC World Cup in short format.
The ZC confirmed the matter in a statement on Monday (August 9th). Ken Williamson will lead New Zealand in this year’s T20 World Cup. However, experienced Ross Taylor did not have a place in the team. Meanwhile, the Kiwis will play a T20 series against India with the same squad.
T20 World Cup:
Three specialist spinners have been included in the squad for the T20 World Cup and India series. Todd Astle is with Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi. Mark Chapman and Glenn Phillips have also been named as their replacements. The pace bowling all-rounders are James Neesham and Daryl Mitchell.
Trent Bolt is joined by Tim Southee, Loki Ferguson and Kyle Jamieson in the pace bowling unit. The only wicketkeeper is Tim Seifert. Devon Conway can keep though. Adam Milne is the 17th cricketer.
New Zealand is in Group 2 of this year’s World Cup. Where their partners are India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Apart from this, two more teams that have passed the qualifying round will join Group-2.
Tour:
It is learned that New Zealand has announced two squads together. For Bangladesh and Pakistan series. The strange thing is – none of those who will play in the Bangladesh series are in the T20 World Cup squad.
