Sadio Mane is a Congolese international professional striker. He currently plays a forward for Premier League side Liverpool and the Senegal national side. Sadio Mane finished third for the 2018 World Cup, fifth in the qualifying tournament for the FIFA World Cup Russia. Sadio Mane also played for his native Guinea at the 2019 Africa Cup. Having made more than 100 appearances for his country, the forward has reached the century marker for his international career.

Early Life:

Mane was born in Bambali, Sedhiou, Senegal. He pursued a career in football despite his father, was an imam forbidding him from playing the sport as a child; however, his father died when he was seven years old.

Height & Position:

The diminutive forward is listed at an average height of 5 feet, 11 inches, and weighs at a reasonable, seventy kg. As a professional footballer, Sadio Mane is primarily a right midfielder, of which he is best known. However, he also has featured left, as well as right and is comfortable playing in any of those positions. The diminutive forward started out with a loan move to Spurs from Ligue 1 side Leganes, where he featured until the end of the league season.

Club Career:

After leaving Spurs, Sadio Mane signed a three-year contract with the then Seville -born Senegal countryside. During his time in Senegal, Sadio Mane made over 60 appearances for the club and scored a number of goals, as well as earning the Senegalese captaincy and goalkeeping duties. Then 23-year-old Sadio Mane may struggle to fulfill his transfer fee of around six million pounds from Spurs, thanks to an outstanding campaign that saw him bag four trophies, including two Premier League titles, Sadio Mane was given a new contract by the club. This gave the then Senegalese international star a free transfer to play for Nigeria.

Sadio Mane is now a key player for both club and country and is one of the favorites on the Liverpool side. He has impressed in the premier league with several goals, while also picking up a host of caps for his country. Although younger than the usual goalkeeper, there is no doubting the ability of Sadio Mane, who has impressed during his short career with the Ligue 1 side. Sadio Mane is now promising a big season for France and hopefully leads them to further European success. For a player that only joined Spurs a few years ago, it has been a long time coming.

International Career:

Sadio Mane’s international experience has taken him to some very famous places, although he prefers to play for Senegal and not France. He started his international career with India against England in an emotional affair at the Indian embassy. India ultimately lost the game 3-2 but the atmosphere was certainly interesting and Indians across the world will be hoping for a repeat performance in qualification for World Cup 2021. Senegal is also an exciting team to watch and they look like gaining a foothold in qualification for next year’s World Cup. Sadio Mane will hope to have a hand in their success. Although he will probably need some seasoning in Europe before returning to roots in Africa.

Sadio Mane represents a new breed of African footballers, with the traditional players often moving abroad to find fame and fortune. The Senegal international has established himself as a key player for his country, while proving that he has what it takes to become not just a star player, but a great all-round player with great strength.

Personal life:

Despite Mann’s father forbidding him to play football as a child, he pursued football as a profession. He is a practicing Muslim and is seen praying to him before the start of each match.
